This is the mix of themes you'll find in the new trilogy from Kiera Cass, The Selection. In this dystopian society, where a strict caste system rules, 35 girls are chosen to compete for the Prince's heart. The story follows one of the Selected, America Singer, who is both spunky and artistic. The love triangle surrounding her story draws the reader in immediately, although I did get a little tired of how easily her heart was swayed at times. There was great character development for both her and many other characters though. The relationships between the girls chosen to participate in the Selected were a highlight of the series. When I finished each book I was compelled to immediately get the next one, and zoomed through two of them in a day and a half. They are a nice mix of romance and political survival story, having just enough depth to give you something to think about, but plenty of opportunity to escape into a fairy tale world.
